It's that time of year again where things begin to change, starting a fresh new cycle of new beginnings and great things to come. The leaves begin to change into a colorful array, worthy of a painting or a post card. The smoldering temperatures ease, a crisp breeze taking it's place- well, at times anyway. With Mother Nature having raging PMS, it's true fall weather one day, in the 80's the next. (like today)
I love the start of each and every season. Maybe it's some connection we have to the earth, or just a stepping stone to another chapter in life. Autumn has always been my favorite, because with it brings the start to the holiday season. That, and, it is also my darling daughter's name... haha. I've never been one to decorate for the seasons or holiday's aside from Christmas and the three jack-o-lanterns on Halloween... but have an itch to start. I find myself getting so wrapped up in things to do and the monotonous cycle of each day that I forget to take a step back and find a reason to celebrate. Since I'm a little late this year to rush out and buy festive decorations, that's going to be added to my New Year's Resolution.... that and to quit procrastinating lol. I do plan on venturing out with the kids once the leaves are at their peak display and snapping a bunch of pictures to add to my hoard of photos. Nothing spectacular, just a day to slow things down and appreciate the world around us... and maybe a thermos of hot apple cider. Who knows what is in store for us, but I wanna grip it by the horns and hold on for the ride! Happy Autumn everyone... may this be the start to a wonderful new story of life with plenty of plot twists, romance, action, and fun for each and every one! <3

Reading time is rare, but given my recent trips and time I can't work because of family medical problems, I had the honor of reading Mercy by July Garwood as I recently boasted upon. Well, when I find an author/series I get in to, I tend to get the itis. Julie has me on an obsessed venture, craving to read more and more. I literally read while folding laundry, in the bath, and even stayed up way too late just to get to the point I couldn't hold my eyes open any longer. These books are like a drug, people. I just finished Shadow Dance, and even though I know there is absolutely no possible way I can find time to start another one with me leaving for Dittercon Wednesday, here I am, eyeballing my iPad and concocting a plan to start it in the tub and 'only read a few pages' before bed. We all know how this will turn out. With a 5 hour drive ahead of me at 7 in the morning, the feasible thing would be to go shower and get some sleep before I wake at 6 to get dressed and get the kids ready for school. I'm not a practical person, obviously. Case in point: I am a writer. I live in my own little world where words on a page trump reality. So, before I go punish myself with lack of sleep and have to buy out Starbucks in the morning, I have to recommend this series. 2 books down, more to go. Mercy and Shadow Dance are amazing. The story lines are great and solid, and for once kept me guessing until the very end. It's hard to find an author who can keep me on my toes, and usually I end up knowing the ending after the first chapter and spend the rest of the book rewriting the book in my head. Julie Garwood, ladies and gents. Get her books. You can thank me later! (And Starbucks will thank you, too!) Off to go back to the first book in the series, Heartbreaker. I'll let you know how it ends... hopefully in a couple weeks after I finish Southern Bred 2. (We all know that isn't gonna happen. Talk to you in a couple days! ;) )
I have little time to do my favorite hobby lately, but every so often I do indulge. A series was recommended to me and this is the first one I have read so far, but botchy balls is it great. It's not the heated, dirty, rough and raw kind of book, but has a story line so intense I can't seem to put it down. The attention to detail and interaction between the characters is like none other I've ever read. The sex itself is magnified from the build up and foreplay of chemistry these two have. Mercy- by Julie Garwood isn't the first in the series, but given how they are written you don't need to follow a specific order. I plan on buying every book in the series after reading 3/4 of this one.
While laying half asleep in bed last night, I read until my eyes crossed and still didn't want to put it down. It is nice to escape and forget all of the crap going on in the world once in a while. With Ebola on the rise and ISIS threats, paralyzing flu bugs and the economy unstable, it's hard as a mom/wife/author to just let loose and run away between the pages of a good book. It got me thinking... does my work give others this little mini vacation? I hope and strive to write and produce literature worthy of my readers and give them their own little piece of escape... because let's face it, we all need it! With laundry washing and the kitchen calling my name, toilets that need scrubbed and floors that need mopped, I'll be searching for a place to hide and finish up Mercy! Go get your own copy and see what I'm talking about! Hugs, and happy reading!! JK Publishing is hosting an event throughout the entire month of October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.
