Trailer for Enlisting Her Heart- Breaking Protocol 4
first off I have to do a shout out and huge thank you to Gracie Meadows for creating a badass trailer for me! I love it! The song is only fitting... since our guys are badasses who do some major ass kicking in each book. Take a peek and get ready... Aug 19th is comong soon!!!! Its that time of year again! The kids are on your last nerve, (as much as we love them and miss them throughout the school year, admit it. You are ready for that bus to pull up and take them away!) Which is a double sided blade. On one hand, you know the first day will be amazing until mid noon and you start to worry... and fight the urge to go get them.
Let's not forget the cost of school clothes, shoes, backpack, and the ten mile long list of supplies they expect you to buy. Which, might I add, there is no way one child needs 12 boxes of tissue and 5 rulers. So, you purchase everything on the list against your better judgement, only to find out that the almost $100 of stuff you sent gets distributed to all the kids and yours is the one who ends up with the shitty box of 10 count crayons that another parent sent instead of the regular count that was on the list. They don't color. It's more like drippings from someone's cheap candles. Before the second day of school, you are back at the store wading through the school supplies in search of another box of colored wax only to find they are out. So, angrily, you go to another store. Eventually, you get the damn crayons and send them. Two weeks later, your tearful child comes to you and says that he/she had to share with other kids and has no crayons. Again. WTF! This time, you play it smart and stop by the liquor store and grab a bottle of wine on your coloring mission. The day starts to look better. ;) While your little ones are struggling to find their grove this year, take time to sit back and remember this won't last forever. Some day, they will be off to college and moving out, so stick to one bottle at a time. You want to numb the pain, not stagger through their raising! With my oldest venturing off on his own this year, I've tried to keep in mind that my other two will do the same one day and all of this sibling arguing and Nerf wars that are loud enough they could wake the dead will be no more. Some days are easier to remember, others not so much. ;) Love the youngin's no matter how mad they've drove you all summer long because the days are counting down until you won't have them tracking mud through the house or leaving hot wheels in the floor for you to step on at 3 a.m. (Okay, believe it or not, that day will come... maybe not for the hot wheels. Definitely for everything else.) On a closing note, another season almost done, half a year gone. Live, laugh, love, and read! Who knows when the zombies will take over! lol This is my first Scavenger Hunt to participate in and I'm so excited! Here's my letter:Best of luck to you all! Great prizes from great authors in celebration of our new authors- it's a day of good reading and celebration!
With August rounding the corner, I'm getting anxious for the release of Enlisting Her Heart! The fantastic Jess Buffett is slaving away on my cover as we speak, and I'm super excited to see what she comes up with!
This book focuses on a major issue that so many of our soldiers past and present face. It is both a condition they must learn to live with but also their loved ones. PTSD has been ignored and targeted as a shameful diagnosis until recently. Still yet, so many of our soldiers are afraid to reach out and get the medical assistance they need. From problems generating from simplistic events such as fireworks on the forth of July to entering a crowded room, normal every day situations prove to be huge problems for them and their families. Trips to a carnival or even out to eat with the family are miserable and stressful. In Enlisting Her Heart, Hulk is faced with some of the same conditions and situations as our soldiers. With the love of a little woman and the strength of the very men and women who stand beside him on the battle field, he finds a way to reach out and learn to over come the nightmares and rage. Join me August 19th on yet another journey with the Breaking Protocol team! It's no secret that I am a major Susan fan. Here is her latest amazing addition to the 3013 series! 3013: STOWAWAY
Blurb: Sonja Grekov has spent her life in a gilded cage, trapped by her wealthy family’s expectations and the scroll tattoo on her face that declares her to be one of the coveted fertile women on Earth. No longer willing to be a pawn to further her parents’ ambition, she finally finds the courage to break free before she can be claimed in a loveless match. She is determined to set her own path, but never expected where it would take her... Trevar Storm and Deacon Wilde are Alliance Elites, but there’s nothing elite about their current assignment. They crew one of the oldest freighters in the fleet, ferrying goods across Alliance controlled space with just each other for company. With a reputation for trouble and no chance at promotion, the two men are planning for the day they can go into business for themselves and leave their military lives behind. A straightforward supply run turns into a life changing event when the two elites discover a treasure hidden in their cargo bay. Keeping their sexy stowaway may bring the full wrath of the Alliance down on their heads, but Trevar and Deacon won’t let her go without a fight. Will their journey end in heartache, or can three misfit hearts find love in the darkness between the stars? Story Excerpt: A muffled groan came from somewhere beneath Deke, confirming it wasn’t the ground crew. None of them would be careless enough to end up inside a shuttle heading for orbit. “Hey, is someone there?” Silence. “Hello? If you can hear me, make some noise.” Another groan, this one a little louder, reached his ears. Well, whoever it was, they weren’t dead. Though after experiencing blackout levels of g-forces while being imprisoned in a containment field, they were probably suffering from a headache that would make them wish they were dead. He carefully shifted several crates, tunneling down toward the sound. When he lifted the last box, his heart seized in his chest and he had to take a second look to confirm he wasn’t hallucinating. Nope. That was definitely a woman. Her dress was dirty and torn, and her dark brown hair was lying in a tangle across her face, but there was no way she was a hallucination. Neither was the delicate scroll tattoo he could see peeking out through the strands of her chestnut hair. Fuck. He toggled his wrist unit and sent a verbal-only message to Trevar. “Get down to the cargo bay, right fucking now. We have a problem.” “Shit. I don’t want problems, Deke, I want to get going. Can’t it wait?” “No.” He heard Trevar sigh heavily, the other man’s frustration a near tangible thing even through the comms. “What the fuck is it that can’t wait until we’re out of orbit? Did you find our mystery cargo? Please tell me it’s something valuable.” “More like priceless,” Deke muttered as their stowaway moaned softly and opened her eyes for the first time. Dark lashes framed a pair of blue eyes the color of glacial ice, and for a moment they stared at each other in silence. “Deke? What the fuck are you talking about?” Trevar’s voice broke the spell. “You’re going to need to see this for yourself. Move your ugly ass, and bring your med-kit.” “What the hell? Are you hurt?” “Not for me, for the kitten in the cargo bay.” Deke ignored the next outburst from Trevar and focused his attention on the woman staring up at him. “Who the hell are you, and what are you doing hiding in my cargo bay?” Sonja felt like she’d been run over by a transpo, twice. Her chest ached and her head throbbed like it might explode at any second. She remembered the engines roaring to life, but after that things went fuzzy. When her eyes finally focused, she found herself looking up at a handsome man with a stern expression on his face. He had a short, well-trimmed beard that was a shade darker than the cropped red hair on his head, and even from this odd angle she could see enough of his steel-gray uniform to know he was a member of the Alliance. “Had to…get away. Hiding. Didn’t want them to find me,” she said, her voice coming out as a gritty whisper. She hated how weak she sounded, and cleared her throat to try again. “I’m Sonja.” “Who was chasing you? No one said anything to us about trouble back at the base.” She shook her head, and then groaned as the small movement sent pain stabbing into her skull. “Long story. Where am I?” “You’re on board our freighter, the Arca, and you are a long way from home, Sonja.” “Good.” The further away she was from the base, the better. With any luck they’d gone deeper into the badlands. Someone came running, their footsteps loud enough to make her ears ring. There was something wrong with their stride though. It seems as though there was too much time between footfalls. Sonja stirred, ignoring her aches and pains to focus all her attention on her surroundings. She pressed down on the floor and found herself rising off the ground. The gravity wasn’t right. “We’re not on Earth?” “We’re in orbit around it,” the officer stated. “I’m Deacon, by the way. Are you hurt? I found blood on the bay floor.” Sonja ignored his question and asked one of her own, instead. “Are you going to turn me in?” “That depends on why you’re hiding in our cargo bay,” a new voice spoke, and Sonja realized this must be the source of the footsteps she’d heard. Deacon turned his head to speak to someone behind him. “I didn’t want to move her until you got here. I think she’s fine, but—” “I’m okay. I just wasn’t expecting my first trip into space to be so, uh, violent.” Deacon moved back and another man appeared in her field of vision. He was older than Deacon, with dark hair that was several inches longer than it should have been considering he was clearly another Alliance officer. His steel-gray eyes matched his uniform, and his expression was one of bemusement as he looked down at her. “Hello, kitten. I’m Lieutenant Trevar Storm, and you are not supposed to be back here.” Steamy Excerpt “Like what you see?” Trevar’s question came out as a roughened growl as he took a step toward her, then another. She felt like rabbit being hunted by a pair of eagles, if the eagles were really, really big. “If I say yes, what happens next?” Deke actually chuckled at that. “What would you like to happen, sweetheart?” “Um….” She lifted her hands, palms up, as she struggled to find the right words. “Funny, you didn’t have any problem showing us what you wanted last night. Ah, that’s the problem, isn’t it, we’re talking too much.” Trevar walked up to her and set his hand down on the counter to her right, while Deke mirrored his actions on her left. She was caught. Trevar was right. Talking wasn’t working for her, action would be easier. She had to stretch her arms to reach them, but she managed to place a hand on each of their shoulders, drawing them in closer. They came willingly, pressing up against her so there was no more space between them. Trevar moved first, dropping his head to slant his mouth across hers. The moment their lips met, she forgot why she’d been nervous. There was no need to be. He kissed her slowly, sampling her lips and then moving deeper. His teeth nipped at her lower lip, sending a sizzling flash of heat coursing through her. This was what she needed, what she’d always craved and never been allowed to have. Here was someone who wanted her for something besides the mark on her face or her family’s wealth. No, she corrected herself with what was left of her mind. Here were two someones, and they both wanted her. Trevar knew he was in deep trouble the second his mouth touched hers. Kissing Sonja was like standing inside a plasma bomb’s blast zone at the moment of ignition. She seared his skin with every touch, sending Trevar’s blood boiling and his dick aching with the need to be inside her. She was beautiful, sexy, and breathtakingly naïve. Part of him wanted nothing more than to send her home again, to live out a safe, protected life of luxury. Instead, he was charging her a small fortune to deliver her to an uncertain future, and he was going to do it while showing her everything he knew about pleasure. The thought gave him a moment’s twinge, but he ignored it. He’d deal with the fallout later, after they’d gotten safely to X2. She rubbed herself against him, enticing him and inflaming him at the same time. There was no artifice to her actions, no games being played. He delved into the sweet heat of her mouth and felt her shudder in response, loving the honesty of her reactions. She was so different from the hardened women he usually spent time with. Sonja was still touched by innocence. He could sense her emotions, need blending with nervousness and hint of uncertainty, and it was almost enough to break him. Almost, but not quite. She was far too good for a bastard like him, but that knowledge wouldn’t stop him. He was going to have her anyway. He lifted the hand that had been set down on the counter and speared his fingers into her hair, the cool, soft weight of it tumbling through his fingers. She’d selected some fragrance he couldn’t remember the name of for her cleanser, a subtle, fruity scent that freshened the recycled air around her like a sea breeze on a hot summer day. Fuck, he had it bad if he was waxing poetic about her damned shampoo. It was the weight of Deke’s hand on his shoulder that reminded Trevar that he wasn’t alone with Sonja. It was an act of pure will to lift his head and release her. Her eyes ice-blue eyes were clouded with desire, and her lips were swollen from their kisses. He liked seeing even those faint marks of possession on her. He reminded himself this was only temporary, a pleasant distraction, nothing more. Once they got to X2, she’d only be a memory. He planned on making it a damned good one. For the first time since puberty, Deke was having trouble controlling his emotions and no fucking luck at all controlling his body. He’d been impatiently waiting for her to wake up for the past few hours, and none of his usual calming techniques had done more than take the edge off his need to see her again. He hadn’t done more than kiss her yet, and she was already wreaking havoc in his world. This didn’t bode well for the day they parted ways, but right now he didn’t care. All that mattered was getting her back in his arms. She greeted him with a dazed smile and rose up on her toes to kiss him, her hand moving from his shoulder to the nape of his neck as he wrapped both arms around her and tugged her in hard against his body. Damn, she felt good in his arms, warm, and soft, and eager. She wriggled closer, brushing against the hard ridge of his cock and he groaned into her mouth at the pleasure of that brief contact. He couldn’t wait to feel her hands on him, or her mouth, or how good it would feel to drive deep into her hot pussy. Deke slid his tongue into her mouth and she moaned, the vibration coursing through him and leaving nothing but raw need in its wake. She opened to him completely, her tongue twining with his as she molded herself to him. He unwound one arm from her waist to run his hand down her side until his hand found bare skin. The silken warmth of her thigh inflamed him. More. He needed more. A single mother with no time for anyone but her beloved boy, Madison’s world changes forever the night the men she’s always wanted blow into town and back into her life. After one too may concussions on the ice put their future at risk, hockey players Riley and Stormy Masters are trying to decide whether to hang up their skates for good. Now they know the woman that has invaded their every dream has kept a very important secret from them. Riley and Stormy must decide if their careers are more important than the woman and child that has suddenly appeared in their lives. Will Madison be willing share her heart to double her chances for love and have the family she has always wanted? Story Excerpt “Riley, I can explain. Just not here, please,” Madison pleaded as she looked around the room full of her family and friends. Riley looked to his twin brother, Stormy, nodded, and sighed. “Okay, Madison, but after this party is over, we will talk,” he said before turning on his heel to walk over to the bar to where Tye was standing serving people drinks. Madison released her breath that she had been holding in ever since she spotted her twin standing in her family’s bar. Shit was going to hit the fan tonight and Madison wasn’t looking forward to the conversation she was going to have in the future with Trent’s fathers. Over four years ago, Madison had attended one of Tye’s away games, which she had done numerous times before. Tye didn’t like to be alone on these long trips. He had told her on several occasions that he felt homesick and wanted one of his sister’s or his father to join him when he traveled on his away games. On one particular away game, Madison couldn’t sleep, so she decided to go down to the bar and have a nightcap. After receiving her vodka cranberry, she decided to take her drink and sit in a booth in the back of the bar, where she could enjoy her drink in peace. That’s when she noticed the two handsome men, Riley and Stormy Masters, walk into the bar. She knew who they were since they were her brother’s teammates, but she had never formally been introduced to them. Every woman in the bar took notice of them, including their loyal fans. After they signed a few autographs, they took their drinks from the bar and turned around, looking for a place to sit. That’s when they both locked eyes on her. Madison felt her skin heat as her clit throbbed by the way their hot molten eyes were boring into hers. They smiled at her and walked toward the table she was seated at in the back and smiled at her as they approached her. These guys were the tallest men she had ever seen. Madison was a tall five-foot-nine woman but even she had to stretch her neck to look at them as they spoke to her. “Hi,” the one she recognized as Stormy said. Madison nodded and smiled. “Hello.” Riley, Stormy’s identical twin asked, “Do you mind if we join you for a drink?” She waved her arm at the chairs around her, but they both decided to sit in the booth on either side of her. Riley was the first to address her. “Do I know you from somewhere?” “Tye Duffey is my little brother.” “Ahh…I thought I recognized you from somewhere.” Stormy then turned to face her and moved in a little closer. “So where is little brother now? Did you put him to bed with his pacifier?” Madison snickered. She noticed that he had slid closer so that she could smell the scent of the fresh soap he must have just used. She noticed his black hair was still a little wet. They must have just showered and come down. Stormy had short spiky hair like Riley’s except Stormy’s hair was only spiky in the very front as to where Riley’s was spiky all on the top of his head. “No, he was tired and wanted to crash early.” Riley nodded. “Stormy practically dragged me out of bed too. Today’s game wore me out.” He leaned in closer and whispered, “But I sure am glad he talked me into coming down here for a drink. This gives us a chance to get to know you better, Madison.” Long story short, after a few hours and way too many vodka cranberries Madison ended up going up to their room and having sex with them. The next morning when she woke up in the middle of them, naked, she grabbed her clothes and ran like a scared little rabbit. She knew it was a mistake having sex with them. But it was the best sex she had ever had. They were both so attentive and relentless in bed. She barely had a chance to breathe when they wanted to have sex again. They fucked like bunnies until the sun came up. Riley and Stormy probably had a girl in every town the visited. Madison didn’t want to be one of their groupies. After that one special encounter with the twins, somehow they got her cell number, most likely from Tye, and tried to contact her by phone messages and even text. By then her period was late and she knew she was going to have their baby. Madison was scared and didn’t know what to do. The twins were just starting out in their careers. For God’s sake, they were only twenty-three to her twenty-eight years. She knew that they wouldn’t be ready to have a baby. She couldn’t bear to abort her baby if they asked her to. After a while the phone calls and text stopped. And Madison’s world of motherhood was about to begin without a father for Trent. Lana’s voice brought her out of her trance, bringing her back to reality. “Are you okay?” she asked in a concerned voice as she dragged her back to the kitchen for more privacy. Madison closed her eyes and looked around to make sure that no one was listening. That’s when Trent came from the back storage room holding a stack of plates and the basket of French bread. “Mommy, are you okay? You look sick,” the sweet little angel said to her. Lana was the one to answer him. “Mommy is fine. She just needed to get something back here in the kitchen she forgot.” Lana shushed him from the kitchen before turning to face her once more. With Lana’s hands on her hips she said, “Spill, Madison. I am not blind. I know Riley and Stormy are Trent’s father. Holy crap, how couldn’t I have seen the resemblance before today? I have seen them play with Tye all those years. They look just like him.” Author's Bio Erika Reed lives in Southern California with her loving husband and two beautiful daughters. As some of you all know, I am in the process of moving, so I am behind on so much. This is a public thank you to all of my dear friends who have helped me with everything and taken the time to promote my new release. Authors truly are the best people in the world, and I am so grateful to have such an amazing group of friends. Have a great week!! Now, go get these books downloaded! ;) I’ve never done a blog hope like this before, but it looks like fun, so let’s give this a go! Basically I tell people about what I’ve been doing recently and how and why I do it. So, here goes:
Question 1 (deep breath) What am I working on? Right now I have a ton of open WIP’s, but am working extra hard on a secret project and finishing up A Dragon’s Heart I am co authoring with Jana Leigh that releases in a couple weeks. I’m so excited! It’s my first ever dragon book, and having the opportunity to write with the fabulously famous Jana Leigh is such an honor! Question 2. How does my work differ from others of its genre? I write a lot of different genres, but I think and see things differently. Blame it on me being left handed, or just that I am odd (hehe), but I can read a book and turn around and write it totally different using the same plot line. Question 3. Why do I write what I do? I love allowing my imagination run wild. Whether it be in my military series, shifters, or fairy tales, the sky is the limit. There are no barriers and I refuse to limit what I will and won’t do. In my shifter series, I incorporate shifters of all types, vampires, witches, angels, fairies… you name it, it’ll probably end up in there at one point or another. Question 4 (nearly there) How does my writing process work? I have an unorganized organizational process lol. Usually it starts with a notebook with notes scratched in all directions and sizes that eventually end up in random notes to add in at the bottom of my WIP that I erase as I use them. I also add in words or phrases I think of, and any ideas I might have while writing. That way, they are right there for me to see and use when the time is right. So, that’s it I guess. I hope you’ve learned a little bit about me. (If you haven’t don’t worry–you’re not the only one). I’d like to thank Jess Buffett for inviting me to this hop! Here are some others who have participated! Nic Starr Suki Fleet Renae Kay Michelle Rae and LV Lloyd Beany Sparks Next week you can hop over to these lovely people who were only too happy for me to twist their arm (I mean ask). April Fool's Day has never been one of my favorites, because I 'm so dang gullible! It is a great day because it signifies that spring is just around the corner. The flowers start to bloom, and the world comes alive. Our weather is still confused, but hopefully will get regular soon so we can get out and enjoy the pretty scenery. Today, Mission: Compromised Submissive released and I am so psyched! Dom and Vice are two strong characters, which proved to be a challenge to work with. I have to say, I loved every minute of it! I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I did writing. I am off to start the next book in the series, so have a great day!
It's Jess Buffett's Birthday and first published Anniversary! Happy Happy Birthday sweetheart! Let's get this party started! A Note From Jess: Hi everyone,First off, a huge thank you to my lovely host for having me so that I can kick of my first anniversary event. As some may or may not know, April 3rd marks not only my birthday, but the anniversary of when my first book The Kayan’s Mage was published. This book is a bit different than the other two in the series. As you all know, Dom and Vice are both very strong characters. They took my ideas and added their own, taking the book to a whole new level that reached farther than my expectations. Emotion, drama, turmoil, action, love.... So many things happening at once. This cover harnesses some of their raw power and assertiveness with a sexy edge! Thank you Jess! I hope you all like it as much as I do. So, here it is!

Normally, I don't go gung ho with school fundraisers. But, the Jumprope for Heart is something I always try to raise money for. My oldest son, who is 17 now, had to have open heart surgery in 2007. He had his aortic valve replaced with his pulmonary valve, and a cadaver valve put in for the pulmonary. He will need another surgery to replace them again in the future. My youngest, who is 6, has a partially paralyzed leg and is wanting to participate this year. (my daughter will also) We have limited family to hit up, so I was hoping I could get some sponsors from all of you! With it being a big deal for me as a mom for both sons, I want to do my part for the parents and kids that have to go through what we did in 2007. Would anyone be interested in sponsoring? I think it can even be a tax write off... not sure. (Just throwing in a little extra bribe lol)

With the big cover reveal coming soon, I thought you might like to see the characters in the second episode of Twisted Fate! So, without further ado, here they are! Zarah- a Native American spirit shifter who learns her animal is a rare spirit bear (white in color, standing the size of a grizzly and contains magical powers like no other)Chad- A blonde wolf shifter.Kuruk- also known as Kink. A Native American bear shifter... who happens to be a bad boy on a motorcycle...Good evening! I am busily readying to write the next installment in the Breaking Protocol series and have ran across a few facts I hadn't shared. In Broken Battlefield, Mended Hearts, there are a few scenes that came from real experiences from my husband serving. Let's take a look:
There is a scene where the team is driving through the terrain and having to keep the humvee from getting high centered. This entire scene- from the views to the treacherous drive came from 2nd deployment in Afghanistan. One minute they would be in the sandy deserts, the next in gorgeous lush forests and mountains. It goes on to say they rolled into a brush field of marijuana plants... again true. Hubs and his platoon drove into a huge pot field that had plants well over their heads and stocks the size of trees. The buds were as described- bigger around than a coke can and longer than their forearm. With opium and hash being a major export in Iraq and Afghanistan and used by most of the locals, it grows plentiful. During raids, they would find buildings full of hash bricks as far as the eye could see. In most cases, weapons were included into the mix and the guys were instructed to destroy it. When they went on search missions, nine out of ten houses held stock piles of ammunition, weapons, and explosives shoved under beds, in floors and secret compartments. Most of what they found were American made. The realization that not all of it could be condoned as confiscated from troops is frighting. Our country sells weapons to the very people we go to war with. What the hell? People so dead set on making a buck are taking the lives of the men and women in which fight for their freedom. There are so many startling facts that most of the population doesn't know, and our soldiers are instructed to keep under wraps. Scary, right? Moving on, in the scene where Jared gives Vice some of the candy stash that Bella and the kids hid in his bags and gear- Every deployment the kids and I would get a ton of candy and hide fire balls and other candy as well as little notes in socks, pockets, and anywhere we could. That way, every time he changed clothes, he would have a little piece of home and know that we loved him. He of course shared most of the time, except the little love notes and drawings from the kids, which made us popular with the unit. When I packed care packages, I made sure to add extra cookies and treats for everyone. Earlier in the story before they left, Jared told Bella to play his song to her every day, being Nickelback's Love Me When I'm Gone. This was something my hubby did every trip. I cry every time I hear the damn song even now. There are so many things I used in this series and will continue to throughout....
